Computer Crashes Can Be Prevented in 5 Easy Ways

It’s easy for computers to be taken as a given. Computers help you work efficiently every day. It is not uncommon for people, however, to not appreciate their computer until it crashes.

This can be terrifying and challenging if you are working with a personal computer. It can be even more devastating for small businesses. It can take days to get everything running again.

How to stop your computer crashing

You will want to make sure your business doesn’t experience another computer crash. These tips can be helpful.

Use an IP Address Management system

Are you thinking that your IP situation will be handled fine if there are just a few computers around the office? Beware! Employees can use any device they like to work, including personal phones and tablets.

Protect yourself using IPAM to protect your Microsoft Windows server. It can be integrated with Microsoft DNS or DHCP servers to provide higher security and scalability. It can store all of your information within an embedded database. This allows you to regain your old server in its original state without worrying about conflicts of IP addresses.

Install a Firewall

Many businesses make the error of believing that a firewall is only required for large businesses. When the worst happens, however, it is clear that small businesses also need protections.

Installing a firewall prevents future crashes. By installing a firewall, hackers can’t steal sensitive company data. It can also prevent employees from engaging illicit after-hours behaviors.

Both a virtual firewall and a hardware firewall are good options for protection. Software firewalls keep in-office and remote devices protected from online threats. While a hardware appliance protects the entry point to your network, it doesn’t matter if computers are connected or not.

Upgrade Hardware & Software

Are you tired and frustrated with the constant updates to your software? Although software updates can sometimes be annoying they are very important. You expose your computer’s security and systems to hackers without them. Because many software updates include security upgrades that you may not have access to if you don’t update or delay.

Be careful not to make the mistake of believing that this means that you have need to modify your program. It doesn’t make sense to buy a brand-new software program as long as your current software program is providing you with updates regularly.

You must not forget your hardware! It could also expose you to security breach if it is extremely outdated. For example, old routers/drives from before 2009 that aren’t self encrypted.

Defragmenting Computers

Have you ever defragmented your computer? It’s possible that you have never defragmented your computer. You may not have defragmented your computer in time.

  • Slow performance times
  • Slow boot-up
  • Long time between virus scans
  • Increased chance of crashes
  • Increased danger of file-corruption
  • Aborted backups

Regular defragmentation of computers is a good way to avoid such issues. It basically reorganizes data, so that pieces that are scattered around your computer are all reunited. It is almost like cleaning out your PC. This can help you to be less susceptible to problems.

Computers need to be in the right environment

Are they in the right environment to work? If they’re not, computers may be more vulnerable to malfunctioning or developing issues.

Temperature is what has the biggest effect . It can have a huge impact how your computer runs. Temperature can cause your computer to heat up if it’s too warm. The processor and components may shut down.

The problem isn’t so severe if the temperatures drop below freezing. However, if the computer heats up too quickly after it turns on, any components can become damaged. Maintain a temperature range of 50 to 82° Fahrenheit for computers when they are being used, stored, or maintained. A temperature of 72 degrees is considered the ideal.

Other environmental factors may also affect security and computer performance. Employers should be discouraged from eating or drinking in the computer environment.

Computer crashes can be very frightening. But, it is also possible to lose sleep at night worrying that another could occur. When you follow these tips, you will sleep better at night knowing your computer system has been protected.
